Close your eyes.

Let your lashes lock together
as your breathing slows,
phantom fingers whispering across skin
as moonshine lights your hair
and the stars line your breaking smile.

Dreamworld is beckoning;
I'm waiting there,
silhouetted in clouddust
with glowworms twinkling the air...
a graveyard in disquise.

Close your eyes.

Let the tidal waves of heartache
sweep from the corners of your soul,
hopes kindling in the hearth
as the piano strikes a key to leave you peaceful.

Your fantasies are waiting;
won't you let them linger
where roses bloom like wildfire
and the stench of death fades to a perfume you can't resist?

A perfect masquerade in lies.

Come now,
my world awaits you,
skeletal fingers reaching for your waist,
embracing skin through cotton nightgowns,
caressing cheeks like a lover's lips.

Close your eyes
and waltz with me through fields of black and white,
tombstones on parade
keeping track of every step,
every breath,
every...death
in the agony of silence and despair.

Close your eyes
and let the wind lull you away
into the world I painted long ago,
where rotted flesh feels smooth as silk
and an eternal thirst for dreams remains.

It's over now;
just close your hooded eyes.

The grave is waiting.
Early mornings at work always lead to weird poems...
