Nestled in the deepest pits of the shadows lining my ribs stands a darkened, drafty cobwebbed door. There is a tree as old as me in the midnight garden. There’s no sound but the wind and fingerprints of rain drumming a thousand dreams against my window. My hair is growing long. Infinity Perhaps

Our galaxy has long been thought to make us small, and to watch the stars is to fixate on the past. Perhaps we belittle ourselves when we put our hopes in the far away and long ago. But if the universe indeed goes on and on, perhaps we're bigger too: expanded by a smaller infinity of versions of us who know better than to shrink the universe to fit the limits of our comprehension. Perhaps it matters.

4: On the Sound of Rain

There are windchimes singing as raindrops ghost past them – the serenade for the fog that the trees have pulled close to their bark. The hushed regality speaks to the heartbeat of the earth; this is a time to breathe in time with the clouds, as they sigh and wistfully rest wishes on the ground below. And the forest smells of renewal, the clean coolness following the distant cracks of thunder, and closer by, the pavement echoes the sylvan petrichor. Nature’s lullaby subdues passerby and worries hang suspended, kneaded away by the rain.
