For :icono-ohhai:, who commissioned me to:

Base (the piece) on the following quote (though the quote need not be included in the piece itself):
“A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mate’s purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, and make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life.”--Elizabeth Gilbert

    But with a catch.

The narrator does not agree with this quote and may even hate it and hate the person who said it or the place he or she read it.

Now, if, that weren't bizarre and particular enough, at least one character (there can be one or several) must be a soldier who has been or is being deployed, though otherwise you have free reign over the characters, the situation, etc...

The poems come from this site: [link]

The rest is me.

I hope she finds it to her liking, as I worked HARD on this. (To prove my point...it is now 3 in the morning. I should have been asleep HOURS ago, but I. Just. Couldn't. Go. Without finishing this.)

This may be one of my favorite things I've ever read.

I love the cat. The humor. The red hair. So many redheaded protags, Beth. Do you have red hair, too? The thought crossed my mind ...

The waiting is what I can identify with so much. You've doubtless gathered that from my own writings.

I love this so much.
